Sana & Spotify
Why Spotify chose Sana
Watch
Hedvig Mossvall, Associate Director of Learning and Development at Spotify
Spotify is bringing learning to life with Sana.
We sit down with Hedvig Mossvall, to discuss what inspired Spotify's approach to learning—and how her team designs experiences that are collaborative, engaging, and built to last.

Hedvig Mossvall There’s another level of actually learning instead of just consuming or clicking through and getting information that’s not sticking at all.
00:13
HM I’m Hedvig Mossvall. I work at Spotify.
00:15
HM I’m an Associate Director of Learning and Development.
00:19
HM I think one of the most important things when it came to choosing Sana as a partner was definitely the partnership and the collaboration—and the way that’s carried out.
00:31
HM Also because Sana has always leaned in and wanted to be at the forefront—not only of learning and development, but also of the latest tech developments, especially within AI.
00:45
Jesper Lunding What is Sana’s role in Spotify’s L&D strategy?
00:49
HM We’ve been looking at AI for a really long time.
00:52
HM We’ve been looking at personalization for a really long time.
00:56
HM We’ve wanted to create more adaptive learning for a really long time.
01:00
HM And we wanted to create more alive content—content that people can consume in a much easier way.
01:08
HM With Sana, it actually gives us an opportunity to make that happen in a completely different way.
01:16
HM We felt in the beginning, “Oh my god, this is going to be a lot of work.”
01:19
HM We had another platform, and it was like transferring content—what would this mean?
01:24
HM We actually said: how do we Sana-fy it?
01:27
HM How do we make our more static content actually become adaptive learning?
01:34
HM We were surprised with the implementation—it was way easier than we thought it would be.
01:40
HM It didn’t take as much time, and we got really good support.
01:46
HM So I think the biggest job for us was more about deciding: what do we keep, and what do we want to transfer over to Sana?
01:51
HM I wouldn’t dare to say it was just like pushing a button—but it almost felt like that.
01:59
HM When it comes to learning, I think we in learning and development have a role to play in knowing:
02:04
HM Is this something we should be doing digitally or online or through e-learning?
02:08
HM Or is this something where people need to meet?
02:10
HM How do we help them consume and learn—whether it’s skills, theories, or models—inside the platform,
02:16
HM and then, when we meet, we practice?
02:24
HM A really interesting example that we just deployed in September was the AI Learning Festival.
02:31
HM What was so fascinating was that all these different workshops, where people showcased what they’d been doing, were examples of how they used AI in their day-to-day work.
02:40
HM They showed, “This is how you can use this tool. This is how I used it. But this is what I learned in that journey.”
02:48
HM I think that’s where learning and development has a really important role to play.
02:54
HM If we’re going to move into the level of AI adoption and AI fluency that we want, then Sana is the key, I would say, for us to do that.
03:07
HM Pretty much the whole company has already been consuming content in Sana, which is amazing.
03:12
HM We’ve gotten really good feedback as well.
03:15
JL It’s great—so you must be doing something right.
03:17
HM Or you must be doing something right.
03:19
JL One of the two.
