Challenge

Amber knew that Veriff’s existing learning tool was holding the company back and unable to meet their people growth needs at scale. When she discovered Sana, Amber saw the potential to create a single destination for learning and knowledge sharing that was true to the company’s increasingly distributed but fundamentally collaborative culture.

Outcome

Implementing Sana as an end-to-end learning platform has helped Amber boost Veriff’s company-wide knowledge sharing, increase employee onboarding satisfaction ratings by 20%, and streamline costs by not having to purchase a separate sales enablement tool.

Increasing engagement by creating one home for learning

Scattered company knowledge and learning not only slows employees down, it limits contextual understanding and hurts learner engagement. When I set out on my search for a new learning solution for Veriff, I knew I wanted an end-to-end tool that could become a single destination. How could we have most, if not all, knowledge and learning in one place so people don’t even have to think about it? That was the first real use case for us when we found Sana.

Sana was the end-to-end learning platform we had been waiting for. It isn’t just a tool for L&D or People Partners; it’s a tool for everyone. I know that Sana is going to positively impact the entire employee experience for us long-term. Already today, I’m most proud of the fact that Sana has become a verb at Veriff. Everyone knows it’s where they should go to learn and access knowledge. Stakeholders automatically go there to create a course. They don’t even have to stop and think about it—it’s just an integral part of what people do during their working day.

Enabling sales without a separate enablement tool

Since founding in 2015, Veriff has been on an extraordinary growth journey, reaching Unicorn status with our Series C funding in 2022. As our enterprise sales motion expanded, so did the team’s need for enablement. But I wasn’t sure a separate enablement tool was the right way to go. My Enablement colleagues and I quickly realized we were looking for a company-wide LMS and sales enablement tool simultaneously and immediately decided to join forces. Veriff has a strong aim to allow people to grow vertically and cross-functionally. Running sales enablement in a company-wide learning platform like Sana gives us the transparency and accessibility to support that aim.

We’re currently focused on embedding Sana into the Revenue org through a mix of live sessions and self-paced learning. To achieve this, I'm working with a range of stakeholders, particularly sales team leads, and encouraging them, among other things, to host their team meetings in Sana. It’s a great way to get more employees accustomed to the platform in an informal context. It also makes those meetings more engaging and inclusive thanks to Sana’s interactive features like quizzes, reflection cards, and polls. Once this phase is complete, we’ll move on to rolling out a blended Sales Academy, taking the learnings from running Veriff’s Leadership Academy on Sana.

Increasing employee onboarding satisfaction at scale

Next on my list after streamlining tools was a smoother, more flexible employee onboarding experience. Here, we benefited from Sana offering both self-paced and live group learning in one integrated platform. Because content in Sana is so much more interactive, we started switching more live sessions into self-paced courses. We saw that back-to-back live onboarding sessions were overwhelming new hires in their first week. Live sessions are still part of the onboarding program, but we’re more selective now. It feels great knowing we can offer a more flexible experience, especially for employees working across different time zones.

We also had a quantitative motivation for improving our onboarding experience. As Veriff scaled and became more distributed across a wider range of time zones, our formerly good onboarding satisfaction ratings began to drop. It didn’t take long for us to realize that our original onboarding practice was no longer fit for purpose. As soon as we implemented Sana, we saw ratings go up again. One of the biggest wins has been allowing people to absorb information at their own pace while retaining our most impactful group moments, like our CEO and founder who still meets every group of new joiners for a live session on Veriff's history and vision.

True to Veriff’s collaborative culture, onboarding is a team effort. Sana’s collaborative editor and templates have helped me and my team set internal stakeholders up for success. Today, our internal stakeholders are responsible for teaching new hires about their respective domains, and we’re there to support. We’ve complemented our internal onboarding material with a lot of Sana’s course templates and used the custom branding functionality so everyone knows what comes from Veriff and what comes from Sana.

“The biggest thing that stood out about Sana, and I say this to everyone who asks, was that everyone could be a creator. You’d be surprised how many LMSs don’t have that as an option.”

Empowering everyone to pass on their knowledge

The biggest thing that stood out about Sana, and I say this to everyone who asks, was that everyone could be a creator. You’d be surprised how many LMSs don’t have that as an option. Our previous learning solution didn’t offer collaborative editing, and it was extremely limiting. We couldn’t have multiple people working on a course at the same time, and the content wasn’t engaging. Today, all our learners can be creators at no extra cost.

Since implementing Sana, we’ve seen a 6x increase in content creators—from 10 in our previous tool to 60. And the numbers are rising weekly. Our internal stakeholders take advantage of Sana’s interactive features like polls, quizzes, and flip cards to make their content more engaging.

Beyond formal learning, we’re experimenting with Sana as a daily meeting tool for Veriff—utilizing meeting templates and the AI meeting summaries and transcriptions. Sana is excellent for running workshops because it’s so interactive. People don’t even need a slide deck anymore; they can just build and host everything directly in Sana. It really feels like the possibilities are limitless.
