growth in number of people who autonomously create content in Sana vs previous LMS

Challenge

Spryker's learning programs are essential for training technical customers to implement its customizable e-commerce platform. However, their LMS made it difficult for learners to find relevant information, and rigid, role-based learning paths led to inefficient training. With a five-person team struggling to meet content demands, Spryker needed a more flexible platform to improve training, democratize content creation, and streamline access.

Outcome

Spryker transformed its learning environment with Sana’s AI-powered LMS. Users now instantly access relevant information via AI-driven conversational search, accelerating client implementation and boosting customer satisfaction. Sana's integrated authoring tools empower all teams at Spryker to create training content, increasing efficiency, enabling faster upskilling, and providing better support for users.

Giving technical teams instant access to critical learning

At Spryker, Learning and Development (L&D) is at the core of what we do. We offer a highly customizable e-commerce platform for enterprise-level companies, helping them launch and scale complex online businesses across multiple countries and industries. Our platform is designed for B2B, B2C and marketplaces, and our success depends on the ability of our customers and partners to implement and integrate our technology effectively.

That’s why our main focus is training external developers, solution architects, and system integrators from companies like Accenture and Cognizant. They are responsible for implementing Spryker for their clients, so they need to be well-trained to ensure the project is a success. They already have a lot of technical knowledge. But it’s crucial for them to be able to find the right knowledge, at the right time, with speed and ease when they encounter a challenge with implementing our product.

But we faced a lot of challenges with our previous Learning Management System (LMS). It was difficult for users to find the information they needed, especially in the moment they needed it most. Our content was scattered, and navigating the platform was frustrating and slow. On top of that, creating new training materials was a bottleneck—we were relying on an external content-authoring tool and just a few people to manage it all, which meant other teams couldn’t contribute as much as they wanted.

We knew we needed a better platform for both external and internal training. We wanted to empower learners to find the correct learning material instantly, get support when they needed it, and make learning personalized and fast. We also needed to improve the content creation process, and make it more accessible for different teams. Our overall L&D efforts are aimed at making sure all users have the knowledge and tools they need to be effective in their roles. But we were missing the mark.

When scanning the market for new solutions, it was hard to miss Sana. We quickly realized that Sana is at the forefront of the industry, and when investigating the platform, we saw a partner that fit all the requirements we had. The powerful and user-friendly AI-search functionality, and the built-in content authoring tool were two things that made it easy for us to partner with Sana.

"Sana’s AI-driven conversational search has been a game-changer, giving our users instant access to the information they need, reducing time-to-value, and ensuring faster, more successful implementations."

Removing bottlenecks and empowering dozens of new content creators

Content creation used to be one of our biggest challenges. It was slow and cumbersome, with only our small learning-experience team able to create training materials. Our previous system separated the LMS from the content-authoring tool, and only a few people knew how to effectively use both. This meant that if a department head or subject-matter expert needed training material, they had to rely on our instructional designers to create it, which slowed down the process.

Our small team simply couldn’t keep up with the high demand for new content across the company. It far exceeded our capacity to produce it. And that created delays that hindered employees and partners from getting the training they needed. The entire process became a bottleneck.

With Sana, we've transformed content creation. The built-in content authoring tool has democratized the process, empowering multiple teams—including people and culture, revenue enablement, and compliance—to create and manage their own training materials without specialized skills or separate software. Each team can now create content independently, eliminating delays and resulting in faster, more relevant training.

We've scaled our training efforts significantly, growing our number of content creators to 26. It has improved our efficiency and productivity across the organization. Now, our learning team can focus on higher-value tasks, while other teams have the autonomy to quickly develop the resources they need. This transformation has ultimately led to a more agile and productive learning environment for everyone at Spryker.

01

Boosting learning efficiency with conversational search

Implementing Sana has had a profound impact on our business, particularly in terms of our most important metric: time-to-value (TTV). TTV measures how quickly a user can go from setup to achieving meaningful outcomes with our product, and reducing this time is critical for our growth.

Our L&D efforts are focused on providing all users—whether internal or external—with the knowledge and tools they need to be effective, making sure projects move as quickly as they can and drive business success.

One of the biggest shifts for us has been the introduction of Sana's conversational search functionality. It aligns with a modern way of learning, where users expect quick, direct access to information without having to wade through unnecessary material. Before, our users had to navigate through extensive courses or multiple tools to find the answers they needed. The system was disjointed.

But now, they get real-time answers to specific technical questions—like "How do I configure this feature?" or "How does this integration work?" It’s been a game-changing feature, particularly for the developers and technical users we serve. It gives them instant access to the information they need in the moment.

This real-time support has significantly reduced the time it takes for users to overcome obstacles, and empowers them to resolve issues as they arise. It also means that our partners and customers can realize the benefits of Spryker more quickly, and accelerate their project timelines. It’s a win-win.

“With Sana, we have empowered more than 26 team members to create content autonomously, reducing bottlenecks and accelerating program rollouts.”

Empowering learners with gradual upskilling and skill-specific paths

In a short time, we've transformed our learning approach from traditional and rigid to more personalized, adaptable, and effective for our users.

Our focus used to be on role-based learning paths and completion rates, which are often the standard metric for most learning departments. The content was structured into broad, generic courses for different roles—like a comprehensive back-end developer program. But there wasn’t much flexibility for users to adapt the learning to their specific needs or experience levels. And with roles in the tech industry evolving rapidly, individuals often need a diverse set of skills that aren’t confined to a single role.

Plus, our old approach put too much emphasis on course completion rates, which didn’t necessarily equal genuine skill-building or offer practical value. It forced everyone through the same content, regardless of their prior knowledge, which made the process inefficient and often irrelevant.

Now, with Sana, we've redefined our learning approach by emphasizing gradual upskilling and skill-specific learning paths. Learners have the freedom to build their skills over time, focusing only on what's most relevant to them.

Many of our users are already familiar with Spryker, so it doesn’t make sense to treat everyone like a beginner. Instead of diving into a broad category like back-end development, we’ve created skill-specific paths in Sana. For example, they can choose to learn about "Data management in Spryker" or "Zed development," based on what’s most applicable to their work. The content is organized into levels with clear descriptions, allowing learners to decide for themselves how far they need to go.

Sana’s platform allows us to organize this content in a way that’s intuitive and closely aligned with real-world projects. We break up our content into levels with clear descriptions, enabling learners to determine where they fit best.

For instance, if users are already experienced, they can skip to a practical exam to validate their knowledge, and mark the entire course as complete. This way learners are only engaging with the material they actually need, rather than completing content just for the sake of hitting a metric.

This flexibility gives our users control over their learning path, while making the process more efficient. It also makes it more interactive and engaging for them. Add to that Sana features like reflection cards, quizzes, and hands-on exercises—and we’ve managed to create an experience where learners not only gain knowledge, but get to apply it right away.

For us, it’s not about ticking boxes—it’s about whether our users are finding the knowledge they need to do their jobs better.

03

Making internal GTM training more engaging and long-lasting

Even though much of our focus is on external training, Sana is also helping us transform internal learning. Whether it’s onboarding new hires, upskilling our go-to-market (GTM) team or ensuring our on-site training has a long-lasting impact, we’re now able to provide a more engaging learning experience.

One significant change is that we now use Sana to onboard new members of the GTM team. New hires are guided through structured learning paths that are tailored to their roles, so they receive the foundational knowledge we believe they need to succeed from the start. Sana also integrates easily with our HR system, HiBob, so as soon as someone joins the company, they’re automatically placed in the right training groups, and assigned the relevant materials. It takes the guesswork out of onboarding, and is far more efficient.

We’re also seeing a real shift in internal upskilling. The teams that are using Sana to deliver learning to their departments are skilling up faster, especially in sales. Before it was tough to get people to engage with the content. We couldn’t host live sessions and the supporting materials in one place, which meant they couldn’t take advantage of the right format for the team. And this was in addition to having a rigid platform. People just weren’t logging in.

Now, with Sana, the GTM team is doing weekly live sessions that can be revisited later, which has made a huge difference. It's not just about the moment they attend the session. But three months later, they can go back, reflect on the content, and ask questions. Before, this would have been a Zoom recording buried in a Google Drive that no one could find. Now everything is in Sana, and available with searchable transcripts. It’s become a much more effective tool for continuous learning, even if the “wow” moment comes later when they realize how easily they can access the knowledge they need.

We’ve also been using Sana to transform how we track the outcomes of our GTM kickoffs or on-site training events, which was almost impossible before. Our GTM enablement team can provide detailed notes and assign follow-up exercises or reviews to participants. Attendees can practice and apply what they’ve learned, and we can track their progress directly through the platform. Not only does this save valuable time during the events themselves, but it also provides us with tangible results and insights from each participant.

Using data and feedback to aligning learning with business objectives

One of the biggest benefits we’ve seen with Sana is how it gives us access to the data we didn’t have before. We're using tools like reflection cards during live sessions, and finding tremendous value in them because we can now look at the data. For us, it’s all about getting access to that data.

We want to know how individuals, groups and the company as a whole are performing. Being able to use the Insights feature to immediately see what’s happening, especially after a live session finishes, means we know what people are thinking, and we can use that information to make our content even better.

What’s great is that this data doesn’t just benefit the learning team—it’s having a broader impact across the organization. Sales leaders can dive into the feedback and pinpoint where their teams need extra support. Our compliance team can now track engagement with mandatory training far more effectively.

The biggest impact has been on our success teams, together with our customer and partner teams, who can now better manage implementation projects. Using the learning data from external implementation teams, they can make more informed recommendations to customers, pinpoint knowledge gaps, and anticipate project risks.

It’s making a difference across the business because the data is accessible and easy to share. We’re able to tie the readiness of implementation teams to project success, and it's driving better performance overall. It’s a game-changer in how we improve the learning process and link it back to real, measurable results.

Personalized, integrated, and impactful: Spryker’s vision for learning

Looking ahead, I'm really excited about where we're headed at Spryker, and Sana is a big part of that journey. Our main goal is to keep reducing the time-to-value for our customers and partners. And Sana is going to help us get there by giving us deeper insights into how our learners interact with our content.

We're aiming to integrate learning data with systems like Salesforce, so we can link training activities directly to business outcomes like faster implementations and improved customer satisfaction. This data-driven approach will allow us to make smarter decisions, and tailor our learning programs even more effectively.

Plus, the partnership we've built with the team at Sana gives us confidence that we're on the right path. They're open to feedback and committed to innovation, which means we can help shape the platform to meet our needs. In a fast-moving tech landscape, having a partner like Sana that's at the forefront of AI and learning technology is invaluable.

For Spryker, we see a future where learning is more integrated, more personalized, and more impactful than ever—and Sana is going to play a key role in helping us make that a reality.
